The Weekly Dispatch: Valuing emissions reduction

In this Weekly Dispatch:

  1. Ministers have published the methodology for calculating the Value of Emissions Reduction as an average of the escalated ACCU price and IPCC abatement figures. The resulting interim values range increase from $70/tonne in 2024 to $420/tonne in 2050. The AEMC has published an updated guide for how the VER will be applied in rule changes and reviews. The AER has released draft guidance on how the VER will be applied in RIT-T and RIT-D decisions.
  2. DCCEEW released the National Energy Performance Strategy. The report provides recommendations on how to boost energy efficiency, demand flexibility and electrification.
  3. An NREL report looks at the major drivers of transformer demand.
